BC health officials report 974 new cases of COVID-19 for a three-day period on Monday, February 28th.

The BC Ministry of Health reported 974 new cases of COVID-19 for a three-day period on Monday, February 28th.

There have been 348,305 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

Day-to-Day Breakdown:

  • Friday-Saturday: 398
  • Saturday-Sunday: 297
  • Sunday-Monday: 279

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 100
  • Fraser Health: 230
  • Island Health: 215
  • Interior Health: 319
  • Northern Health: 110
  • Resident outside Canada: 0

There are now a total of 549 people in hospital with COVID-19, 85 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

22 new people have died from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,873. 

Outbreaks

There have been 2 new health-care facility outbreaks in the province:  Sun Pointe Village and Fischer Place (Interior Health).

The outbreak at Trinity Care Centre (Interior Health) have been declared over.

There are a total of 28 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.

There are currently 12 health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.

Vaccinations

As of Monday, February 28th:

  • 11,339,815 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC.
  • 90.6% (4,516,465) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 86.3% (4,299,888) have received their second dose.
  • 93.3% (4,322,690) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 90.7% (4,204,895) have received their second dose and 55.7% (2,580,562) have received a third dose.
  • 93.6% (4,048,472) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose, 91.1% (3,942,366) have received their second dose and 57.7% (2,494,701) have received a third dose.
