Great news BC residents!

Things are slowly returning to normal as the provincial government announced their next steps in the easing of COVID-19 restrictions across the province.

In a press conference Tuesday afternoon,  Premier John Horgan, Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, and Dr. Bonnie Henry, announced a long list of restrictions that would be lifted at the end of the day on February 16th.

Majority of the restrictions currently in effect in BC will be lifted, however, masks in indoor
public spaces, the BC Vaccine card program, and COVID-19 safety plans will continue for at least another month.

In today’s announcement, Dr. Bonnie Henry said all restrictions surrounding indoor, outdoor gatherings would be lifted, this includes:

  • Indoor personal gatherings can return to normal
  • Indoor and outdoor organized gatherings can return to full capacity with dancing being allowed (with masks & BC Vaccine Card)
  • Indoor seated events, such as a Victoria Royals game, can also return to full capacity (with masks & BC Vaccine Card)

The above restrictions will rescinded at 11:59 p.m. on February 16th.

In addition to that, the province also announced that restrictions surrounding restaurants, nightclubs, sporting events and fitness centres would also be lifted.

According to the province, BC is one of the most vaccinated jurisdictions in the world.

As of today, 90.5% of British Columbians 12 and over have received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine—55% of eligible kids 5 to11 have also received their first dose.

“BC has a very high level of population immunity to the virus, estimated >90% have either been vaccinated or probably infected,” the province said in a media release.
