Craving a Frosty with breakfast?

Hungry early birds will soon have another drive-through option, as this fast-food giant expands its Canadian menu and joins the breakfast club.

With locations across the country, including in Victoria and Langford, Wendy’s Canada is ready to offer breakfast to its customers starting spring 2022.

While the official morning menu has not yet been revealed, it’s expected in the next few weeks, according to Wendy’s.

But the chain’s hinting to restaurant-goers, saying they can expect freshly cracked Canadian eggs, savoury Applewood smoked bacon, and biscuits served warm from the oven.

“We have done the work, immersing ourselves in what Canadian customers want from their breakfast, and we will serve up hot, made-to-order, great-tasting food, using high-quality ingredients that have long set Wendy’s apart from the competition,” said Abigail Pringle, President, International and Chief Development Officer.

“We are confident that our breakfast experience will make Wendy’s their number one choice.”

The company says its franchises will collectively hire around 1,600 more staff nationwide to support the expansion.

This may come as welcome news for BC, after the province saw around 6,700 job losses in the restaurant and accommodation industry in December 2021, according to Labour Force Survey data from Statistics Canada.

It was back in March 2020 when Wendy’s introduced breakfast to its restaurants in the United States, competing with fast-food chains like McDonald’s and Tim Hortons.
