Here’s why Downtown Langford was voted the most livable community in Canada

Share

It may come as no surprise, but Langford is on the up-and-up—and we’re here to tell you why.

From topping the list of over 150 most livable places in Canada to more recently ranking as third fastest-growing suburban municipality in the country, it doesn’t look like the quickly-transforming city will be slowing down anytime soon.

With plenty of green space, tons to do and tons to see, high-rises on the horizon and so much more, here’s why Downtown Langford was voted the most livable community in Canada:

Attainable luxury living

Did you know that Downtown Langford’s tallest high-rises are currently in construction?

The new development, The Scene, will not only house 270 condos—a mix of 1, 1+den, 2, and 3-bedroom suites—it also offers over 10,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor condo amenities, including a gym, party room and courtyard.

Located centrally on Peatt Road, The Scene is in close proximity to schools, parks, recreational facilities and shopping and entertainment, too—many within walking distance.

The suites are said to be inspired by the calming coastal waters, majestic mountains and lush extensive forests of the Pacific Northwest, with contemporary interiors feature soothing, natural hues.

Condo sales for The Scene begin early spring, 2022—you can register today for priority preview appointments by booking online.

Green space galore

Langford is currently home to 2,167 acres of park and recreational land within the municipal boundaries, and has plans for even more green space in the future.

The expansive city is home to plenty of grassy hills coupled with views of the waters of Saanich Inlet and Juan de Fuca Strait from the rocky summits of Mount Skirt, Mount Wells and Mill Hill, with spectacular landscapes all around.

From parks, to playgrounds to even a brand new bike park, Langford boasts a ton of space for outdoor activities for everyone of all ages.

Work and play

On top of the above accolades, Langford also tops the charts for being Most Resilient City and Best Place for Work for the second year in a row.

The ranking considers factors such as economic diversity, population growth, household financial vulnerability, resident sense of belonging, residential gas emissions, rental vacancy rate, residential sales, housing starts, change in jobs and annual unemployment rate.

“Although the last couple of years continues to be challenging for both residents, business owners and employees, this ranking is a strong signal that we continue to move in the right direction,” said Langford Mayor Stew Young.

But what’s work without a little play? Langford also hosts a long list of restaurants, entertainment and even family activities that only add to the city’s vibrancy, making it a desirable location for many Vancouver Islanders.

Everything above points to Langford quickly becoming one of the Island’s most sought after places to live, work, and enjoy life.
