

Island Health is declaring three COVID-19 outbreaks over, with no new outbreaks to report.
It comes as BC health officials report 583 new cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours on Friday, including 96 new cases and 1 death in Island Health.
According to health officials, the following outbreaks are now over:
- Sunridge Place long-term care home in Duncan, which saw a total of 23 resident cases and 2 staff cases.
- Sluggett House long-term care home in Brentwood Bay, which saw a total of 2 resident cases and 7 staff cases.
- The Heights at Mt. View long-term care home in Victoria which saw a total of 3 resident cases and 1 staff case.
According to the health authority, outbreak protocols will now be ended at the sites. Still, enhanced infection prevention and control measures and monitoring of residents, patients and staff for symptoms will continue.
“Staff at the sites are to be commended for continuing to deliver high-quality, compassionate care while diligently following outbreak protocols,” Island Health added.
There are currently 12 health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.
