While it may not come as a surprise, Langford is on the up-and-up—quite literally.
The first of the 2021 Census data has been released, with new information on the fastest-growing suburban municipalities in the country!
According to the data, our very own Langford made the list, coming in third place.
This news may not be surprising, however, as it was recently voted the ‘Most Resilient’ and ‘Best place to Work’ for a second year in a row, the go to spot for new high-rises and the site of multiple popular businesses’ new locations.
The data highlights the municipalities in Canada that grew the fastest between the 2016 and 2021 census, taking into consideration municipalities with at least 5,000 inhabitants to create a list of 25.
In 2016, Langford had a population of 35,342 people. In 2021, that number jumped significantly to 46,584, a growth of over 11,000 residents and 31.8% overall in 5 years.
Langford came in third behind East Gwillimbury and The Blue Mountains in Ontario.
Several other BC municipalities also made the list, including Southern Gulph Islands, Lake Country and Squamish.
