BC health officials report 466 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, March 1st

The BC Ministry of Health reported 466 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, March 1st.

There have been 348,771 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New cases were reported in these health regions:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 31
  • Fraser Health: 101
  • Island Health: 95
  • Interior Health: 193
  • Northern Health: 45
  • Resident outside Canada: 1

There are now a total of 523 people in hospital with COVID-19, 83 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.

There were no reports of deaths from COVID-related causes, making the provincial death toll 2,873.

Outbreaks

There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks in the province.

There are a total of 28 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province.

There are currently 12 health care outbreaks in the Island Health region.

Vaccinations

As of Tuesday, March 1st:

  • 11,344,610 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC
  • 90.6% (4,516,750) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 86.3% (4,300,859) have received their second dose.
  • 93.3% (4,322,900) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 90.7% (4,205,277) received their second dose and 55.7% (2,584,127) have received a third dose.
  • 93.6% (4,048,659) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose, 91.2% (3,942,697) received their second dose and 57.7% (2,497,606) have received a third dose.
