An investigation is now underway after a weekend stabbing within a small Vancouver Island town left one man dead.
On Saturday, March 26th, numerous 911 calls reporting an altercation between two men led police to a home in a rural area of Lake Cowichan.
Officers arrived on scene to find people inside the home, including one man who had been stabbed and subsequently pronounced dead by paramedics.
According to police, another man was taken into custody and later released.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU), Lake Cowichan RCMP and BC Coroners Service are now investigating the incident, police say.
RCMP Cpl. Alex Bérubé says the incident was isolated with no risk to the public. “The investigation is in its early stages and more information will be provided when available,” he added.
