West Shore RCMP seek stolen construction gear worth $40,000

Share

Construction survey equipment worth tens of thousands of dollars was stolen in Langford last month, prompting West Shore RCMP to put out a plea for help in finding the gear.

On February 3rd, just before noon, police were called to the Trans Canada Highway at Leigh Road after a report of a stolen grey Trimble S8 Robotic instrument and yellow Trimax Tripod—together valued at around $40,000.

The call came after a witness saw what he believed to be a man allegedly stealing the gear, according to police. The thief then fled in a dark vehicle that was last spotted heading east on McCallum Road.

Mounties now encourage anybody who was travelling in the area at the time to review their dashcam footage, in hopes any suspicious activity was caught on camera.

Those with information about the theft are asked to call West Shore RCMP at (250) 474-2264 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477 (TIPS). Anonymous tips can be submitted online here.
