A 46-year-old man was arrested this week and must now keep away from Oak Bay High School, following allegations he was repeatedly loitering near the school and watching female students.
On Thursday, Oak Bay Police arrested the Saanich man for criminal harassment after officers spotted him near the Cadboro Bay Road school and its student parking lot at closing time.
Deputy Chief Mark Fisher says complaints that the man had repeatedly been loitering and following female students prompted a police investigation earlier this month.
“A parent also reported the male driving around the school in circles at school closing time on one occasion,” Fisher told Victoria Buzz, noting the suspect doesn’t have any children who attend the school.
According to Fisher, the man was released from custody on conditions to stay 100 metres away from Oak Bay High, its student parking lot, and Oak Bay Recreation Centre.
He’s also banned from communicating with any female under 18, police say.
