Heavy police presence on Gorge Road East Monday due to two weapon-related incidents

Two separate investigations into an assault with a weapon at the same multi-unit residential facility resulted in a significant police presence in the area of Gorge Road East on Monday. 

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Monday, April 25th, officers responded to a report of a victim of an assault with a weapon at a multi-unit residential building in the 200-block of Gorge Road East. 

The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 

Officers identified another person involved in the incident, locating him a short time later at the scene. He was also transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the incident. 

Both individuals involved received medical care and were later arrested and released pending further investigation. 

Officers remained on scene throughout the day to execute a search warrant on the suite involved in the assault incident.

At the same time, VicPD officers and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team  conducted a firearms investigation at a separate suite in the same building. 

Officers remained on scene for much of the day during the execution of the search warrant.
