Nanaimo motorcyclist in stable condition after serious assault Wednesday

Nanaimo RCMP are looking for witnesses and dashcam footage after a motorcyclist was assaulted in a downtown Nanaimo intersection on Wednesday.

Shortly after midnight on April 20th, RCMP officers were dispatched to assist paramedics at the intersection of Esplanade Street and Victoria Crescent in downtown Nanaimo. 

Upon arrival, officers saw a black Harley Davidson motorcycle lying on its side and a wounded man nearby. 

Paramedics were attending to the man, assuming he had been in a collision, however, it soon became apparent that he had been the victim of a serious assault. 

The 34-year-old driver of the motorcycle was flown to Victoria General Hospital and is now said to be in stable condition. 

Nanaimo RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed an altercation or drove through the area (and may have dashcam footage) between 11:30 p.m. and midnight on April 20th to contact them at (250) 754-2345.
