Stars on Ice (James Bennett)

It’s never too early to break out the skates, FIGURE-atively speaking.

Stars On Ice — a figure-skating competition featuring Canadian Olympic figure skaters in all their glory, will return to Victoria for the fist time in two years due to the pandemic.

The production will take place on Saturday, May 21st at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

This year’s Stars on Ice tour will feature two of Canada’s most accomplished and iconic skaters Kurt Browning and Elvis Stojko, plus many of those who just earned national titles and represented Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Two-time and reigning Canadian Dance Champions Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier lead a list that also includes three-time and reigning Canadian Pair Champions Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro. Canadian Champion Keegan Messing will also perform in this year’s production.

“Aside from the Olympic appeal, Stars on Ice offers fans of figure skating a unique theatrical platform to enjoy skating. Perhaps one of the most interesting and audience-pleasing aspects of the show are the group numbers,” said Stars on Ice in a statement.

“This is where the entire cast skates together to a musical medley in some of the most beautifully thematic costumes. This year’s finale will be an Elton John medley with costumes representing 25 different Elton John looks throughout the years.”

The cast, a revolving door of Olympians is set to be a stacked one, including:

  • Olympic Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalist, 2018 World Champion and three-time Canadian Champion Kaetlyn Osmond
  • Olympic Bronze Medalist, World Champion and three-time Canadian Champion Jeffrey Buttle
  • Canadian junior champion and social media sensation Elladj Baldé; three-time Canadian Dance Champions, three-time World Medalists and 2018 Olympians Kaitlyn Weaver & Andrew Poje
  • Two-time World Medalist and four-time Japanese Champion Satoko Miyahara
  • Two-time United States Champion Alissa Czisny
