Two people have been arrested for allegedly murdering a young boy in Port Alberni over four years ago.
In a media release, Port Alberni RCMP say 29-year-old Mitchell Frank and 28-year-old Rykel Frank have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of six-year-old Dontay Lucas.
Lucas, who is of Hesquiaht descent, was found dead in a Port Alberni home on March 13th, 2018.
Up until now, no arrests had been made in the case.
“These investigations are difficult for everyone involved, and we understand the length of time that it has taken to get to this point has been challenging for the community,” Port Alberni RCMP Insp. Eric Rochette said in a press release.
The two accused are expected to appear at the Port Alberni Law Courts on Wednesday.
More information is expected at a news conference around 10 a.m. on Monday morning.
