From social media fame to TV stardom!

Funkanometry, a popular dance duo from Nanaimo, won the hearts of the judges on America’s Got Talent, earning a spot on Season 17 of the reality TV competition.

20-year-old Carlow Rush and 19-year-old Jacksun Fryer now have a shot at winning the show’s top prize of $1 million.

The duo earned a yes from all four judges on Tuesday night after performing on the big stage in front of judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara.

“I love this audition,” said Simon Cowell.

“I think you are fun, original. My only issue was … it wasn’t long enough,” Cowell added.

Heidi Klum said she was worried prior to their performance, saying, “when you look on TikTok you have this tiny little screen and now you have this gigantic stage and will it translate? But I think it worked.”

The other judges, Howie Mandell and Sofia Vergara, also praised the young men on their performance.

“That was so good on so many levels, you’re in sync together,” Mandell added. “Your faces and your acting and your little storytelling worked, and also your choice of music (was great).”

Funkanometry booked their ticket into the next round of the competition but there is no word on when their next performance will be.
