10 ways to take part in the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria’s Paint In festival (CONTEST)

One of Victoria’s most beloved festivals, TD Art Gallery Paint-In, will return for its 33rd year this month.

It all goes down on Saturday, July 16th, drawing over 30,000 visitors!

For one day only, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., artists will line up along Moss Street—from Fort Street all the way to Dallas Road—to demonstrate their craft and share their work with the community.

Celebrate up to 150 local artists and enjoy community, arts-based groups transforming Moss Street into a colourful art gallery.

DIVE IN AT DALLAS

We suggest starting your day at Dallas Road, and making your way to The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria (1040 Moss Street). Moss Street will transform into a living gallery with over 150 artists set up along the boulevard. See the artists map to plan your visits, and chat with local artists, view artist demonstrations, or purchase local artwork to take home!

VISIT AN IMAGINATION STATION & PET STATION

There are 8 Imagination Stations to visit along Moss Street! Stop by for activities for all ages, or treat your furry friends to a drink and a snack at one of two Pet Stations!

The Imaginations Stations are a one-stop-shop for all things Paint-In.

Need info? Stop by to see the festival map, ask questions to the purple-shirted volunteers, drop off garbage and recyclables, or take the visitor survey.

GET SOME LOCAL EATS!

Fuel up at various local food trucks and vendors dotted along Moss Street.

Also, the Moss Street Market will be set-up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Moss and Fairfield. Look out for vendor, such as: Langos By Louie, Lemon Heaven. Victoria Oven, Holy Cow Mini Donuts, Hazel’s Ice Cream, Martha’s Delectables, Mama Rosie’s Kitchen, Greek on The Street, Freshcoast Health Food Bar, Country Crepes, The Deep Friar & BCause.

GET TO KNOW THE ARTS COMMUNITY!

Alongside the 150 artists, AGGV has invited community arts groups to pop up. Get to know Victoria’s vibrant arts community a little bit better by stopping by their booths.

Look out for these groups: SUPPLY Victoria, Gage Gallery, PRINT Victoria, Our Place Society, Cool Aid, CiiAT Art Therapy, Island Illustrators Society, Bateman Foundation, Xchanges Gallery, SOLID Outreach, Ministry of Casual Living, BC SPCA, Garden City Electronic Music Society, Open Action Performance Art, Pandora Arts Collective Society, Chinese Painting & Calligraphy, and Vancouver Island Bonsai Society.

SNAP A PIC IN THE FRAMEOUS FRAME!

Snap a picture in the AGGV Giant Frame! Capture the moment with your friends, family, and neighbours.

VIBE WITH LOCAL MUSIC & DANCE

Visit the Family-Friendly Beer Garden (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.) to see a variety show of local music and dance! Check out all the great acts at the Shampoo Hair Bar Stage located at 1040 Moss Street.

VISIT THE ART GALLERY GET A FREE TOUR

The Gallery will be open until 6 p.m. with admission by donation! There are lots of exciting exhibits to see, from a fashion inspired show, Adorned, to Maud Lewis.

You can get a FREE guided tour of Maud Lewis at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

RELAX IN THE FAMILY FRIENDLY BEER GARDEN

Enjoy some drinks at the Family-Friendly Beer Garden, open until 6 p.m. and located in the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria parking lot. Try one of the many beers from Lighthouse Brewing Company or refresh with a cider from Sea Cider Farm and Ciderhouse!

GIVE TO THE CAUSE!

Did you know that the Paint-In is the AGGV’s largest fundraising event of the year? Gallery programming and the TD Art Gallery Paint-In would not be possible without the generous support of the community.

Bring some cash to drop in the bright yellow donation bins, OR, f you’re short on cash, just text ART to 30333 to donate $5 to the AGGV.

STAY HAPPY & HEALTHY ALL DAY!

Have the best day possible! Make sure to drink lots of water and bring your own water bottles, and you can refill your water at the CRD Water Station.

Portable washrooms are located at Dallas, Fairfield, and 1040 Moss Street. You can also use the Art Gallery restrooms and the Moss Street Market Restrooms.

We suggest walking or biking to the festival! There are bike locks at Central Middle School.
