Expect some delays if you’re planning to travel the Malahat this morning.
The southbound lanes of the Trans Canada Highway were closed shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday morning after a delivery truck burst into flames.
According to DriveBC, the southbound lanes were of the highway were then reduced to single-lane alternating traffic just after 6:30 a.m. in both directions.
In an update at 9:45 a.m., DriveBC said the Malahat switched to single lane traffic in both directions south of Mill Bay Road and asked motorist to watch for traffic control and expect major delays.

Patrick Fisher was driving by the scene of the incident this morning and captured the truck fire on his dashcam. Footage shows flames bursting out of the hood of the vehicle.
Several rucks were also lined up on the shoulder of the highway as he drove past.
The condition of the driver is unknown at this time.
