According to witnesses in the area, there was a three-vehicle crash with one of the vehicles landing on its side.
People in the area said one of the men involved in the crash appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis and was in possession of a large knife inside the vehicle.
That person is now in police custody and was transported to hospital after he was struck with several non-lethal rounds fired by police.
It’s unclear if the mental health crisis lead to the crash.
There are reports a dispute broke out at a gas station at the intersection of Quadra and Cook prior to the vehicle incident. Witnesses say a driver flew out of the gas station in his vehicle prior to striking two parked vehicles.
Saanich Police said the area will be closed to traffic for some time.
More to come.
