5 iconic Victoria-themed costumes you can rock this Halloween

Share

Do you have your costume planned out yet, Victoria?

Halloween is almost upon us and that means it’s time to stop procrastinating!

There are hundreds of Victoria themed costumes that are easy, quick and cheap to slap together.

However, given that there are only a few weeks until it’s time to suit up we’ll keep this list short to encourage swift, decisive action.

Here are the top five iconic Victoria themed costumes of 2023:

Darth Fiddler

Every city has a fun, eccentric. Darth Fiddler, bless his bow is ours.

Get yourself a Darth Vader mask, a cape (a towel or sheet will do in a pinch) and draw a violin onto some cardboard for a cardboard cutout violin prop!

Bada-bing bada-boom, you’ve got yourself a Darth Fiddler costume.

Just don’t go standing on his corner. That’d be just rude.

BC Ferries Employee

A mythical being! Well, maybe sometimes they feel more like a legend than a reality.

This one’s easy! A white collared shirt with ‘BC Ferries’ scrawled onto its breast, some khaki pants, a high-visibility vest and maybe a walkie-talkie to finish the look.

While we give them a hard time, BC Ferries employees are probably some of the hardest working, most taken for granted people on Vancouver Island.

For all they do, you should honour them by dressing like one of them and maybe even start working for them!

Marty the Marmot

Everyone’s favourite mascot!

This one might be a bit harder of a DIY project, but if you’re up for a challenge it’ll be well worth it.

Get yourself a Victoria Royals Jersey, brown pants, brown face paint for the fur and maybe some blue face paint to get his beautiful eyes just right.

Just make sure it’s all washable face paint!

There can only be one Marty for the other 364 days of the year.

Jesse Roper

The Metchosin one!

This also happens to be perhaps the easiest costume on the list. All you need is a long hair wig, a funky necklace, a fake moustache, a fedora hat and an inflatable guitar if you don’t want to break the bank.

It’ll help your costume’s legitimacy if you are constantly nice to everyone, always smiling and generally making everyone around you have a better day.

Ducknana

Back with a vengeance!

This one could prove to be a challenge to piece together DIY.

You just need to find a yellow sleeping bag, a yellow shirt and maybe paper mache together a duck head. You could make the sleeping bag look like a banana peel if you have the will to make it happen.

You could make your Ducknana costume stand out by making it a zombie Ducknana or maybe a pirate Ducknana. The possibilities are endless.
