New live music series that focuses on 2SLGBTQ+ artists is coming to Victoria

Queer art deserves to be seen, heard and celebrated in Victoria.

A new live music series dubbed QUSIC is going to put a spotlight on the many local 2SLGBTQ+ artists in and around Victoria.

QUSIC Victoria is being undertaken by Rebellious Unicorn, an Okanagan based 2SLGTBQ+ focused events and production company.

All artists taking part in the new music series must identify under the 2LGBT2Q+ spectrum. QUSIC celebrates 2LGBTQ2+ performers and their community, which includes local artists who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two-spirit as well as a range of other gender and sexual identities.

QUSIC aims to support the growth and development of the Canadian music industry by highlighting artists who identify as 2LGBT2Q+ and to help to put money in their pockets so that they can continue to create their art.

“We’re so excited to finally be able to bring QUSIC back to Victoria,” said Dustyn

Baulkham, Executive Producer of QUSIC.

“With the help of CreativeBC, we’ve been able to bring back a platform for 2SLGBTQ+ musicians to showcase their talent”.

Their first show in this new music initiative is being held at Friends Of Dorothy on Wednesday

October 12th and will feature Matthew Presidente as the headliner with locals Karen Donna and Hoélune Rośe as supporting acts.

This show will be the first of QUSIC’s many 2LGBT2Q+ shows to come to Victoria.

Details on the next QUSIC show in Victoria have not been announced yet, but Baulkham told Victoria Buzz that Victorians can expect another in early December and they’re hoping for another show to take place early in the new year.

Those who cannot make it to the show in person can watch the performances via Rebellious Unicorns live streaming platform.
