The body of a missing 81-year-old Shawnigan Lake woman has been found.
In a media release, police said they do not believe that criminality was involved in Janet Klassen’s unexpected death.
Klassen was last seen around 3 p.m. on January 24th while on a walk in the area of White Eagle Drive in Cowichan Valley area. Police were contacted later that day after she failed to return home.
Just before 8 p.m. Wednesday, RCMP confirmed her body was discovered but did not reveal when and where.
The BC Coroners Service has been notified and will be investigating the woman’s death.
“No further information will be provided at this time. Thanks to the media and public for your assistance,” said Corporal Alex Bérubé of BC RCMP.
