FortisBC Media Relations Spokesperson Lauren Lea told Victoria Buzz that fire crews and VicPD are on-site handling the leak.
“FortisBC crews are on site,” said Lea. “We arrived on-site at about 11:30 this morning to investigate gas line damage in the area.”
Victoria Fire crews and VicPD have closed Bay Street between Fernwood Road and Forbes Street while FortisBC investigates.
Lea said that the damaged gas line is now contained and under control.
FortisBC crews are now working to repair damages that were made and get connections back up and running for approximately 45 customers and households that will need devices turned back on.
If customers aren’t home when crews come to assist them with their gas supplied appliances, a tag will be left and they can contact FortisBC to return at their earliest convenience.
