According to Environment Canada, “an approaching frontal system will stall west of Vancouver Island today.”
The weather alert is warning of easterly winds of 70 km/h gusting to 90 will develop tonight near Juan de Fuca Strait and then spread to Haro Strait Thursday morning as southeast 70 km/h gusting to 90 before easing.
“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches.”
In addition to the wind warning, a fog advisory is in effect for Courtenay to Campbell River with near zero visibility occurring today.
While the forecast includes rain and wind, temperatures are expected to hover between 7 to 11°C for most of the week.
