Here’s a list of rejected personalized licence plates you won’t get to see on BC roads

Share

Each year ICBC receives thousands of applications for personalized licence plates in British Columbia.

And while many are approved each year, such as ELVIS, LI MO and NSFW, there are plenty that get nixed before they even reach a vehicle.

ICBC released their list of rejected personalized number plates, and while many make some level of sense (BLU-BYU, GO FAST, and variations of 420), some are a little surprising.

In total, ICBC received 9,467 slogan requests for personalized licence plates last year, with 67% approved and 33% not making the cut.

“We’ve seen increased interest in personalized plates in the last few years,” said Sandy-Anne Dodig, ICBC’s Manager of Insurance Operations Support.

“Personalized licence plates can be a fun and creative way to express yourself, and are available for regular passenger vehicles, motorcycles, vans, light trucks and motor homes.”

ICBC says slogans are rejected if they don’t meet guidelines and criteria or if they’re deemed objectionable. For instance, if they’re discriminatory, sexually suggestive, abusive or derogatory in any language.

Others are hilarious ideas we wish made it to the streets.
