VicPD is advising the public of road closures happening this Sunday, January 29th during the Chinese New Year celebrations for the Year of the Rabbit.

With the Lion Dance Parade slated to start at 1 p.m. along the 500-block of Fisgard Street, this road will be closed to all vehicles from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Other downtown intersections will be closed as the participants move along the parade route.

Starting in the 500-block of Fisgard Street, the Lion Parade will take two slightly different routes as they make their way through Chinatown visiting merchants along the way.

One Lion will travel on Fisgard Street, Douglas Street, Herald Street and Store Street before returning to the 500-block of Fisgard Street.

The second Lion will travel on Fisgard Street, Government Street, Pandora Avenue and into Fan Tan Alley before returning to the 500-block of Fisgard Street.

Traffic delays are expected and VicPD officers will be present during the celebration for traffic control and to keep parade participants and community members safe during the parade.
