Two-vehicle crash snarls Wednesday morning traffic on Pat Bay Hwy

A motor vehicle accident caused significant traffic delays for southbound Pat Bay Highway commuters Wednesday morning.

Two trucks were involved in a collision on the Pat Bay Highway coming into Victoria near Uptown Shopping Centre.

At around 8:30 a.m. on January 11th, a Black Toyota pickup truck struck a commercial delivery truck at the intersection of Ravine Way and Blanshard Street.

“One vehicle was coming southbound, approaching Ravine Way on Blanshard,” said Cst. Markus Anastasiades, Public Information and Communications Officer with Saanich Police.

“The other vehicle was crossing Ravine Way over to Carey.”

Tony Scherer, Deputy Fire Chief, Saanich Fire Department said that three crews responded, a rescue unit, a ladder unit and an engine unit.

Anastasiades and Scherer both told Victoria Buzz that there were no serious injuries in the collision.

‘The Toyota is undrivable and will have to be towed,” said Anastasiades. “We have officers out there doing traffic control until it’s cleaned up.”

Until the truck is towed, motorists are unable to turn left on Ravine Way from Blanshard Street.
