Last week, VicPD officers conducted a retail-theft project in downtown Victoria which resulted in over $11,000 worth of recovered merchandise.

During the operation, police made eight arrests during the recovery of stolen goods.

Between January 17th and 20th, VicPD officers targeted shoplifters at one specific downtown retailer.

Police spent 13-hours monitoring the retailer in question and intervened to arrest the eight individuals for theft under $5,000.

According to VicPD, the suspects stole anywhere between $477 and $3,200 on a case-by-case basis.

One of the individuals police charged was on conditions not to be in the area from a previous arrest from shoplifting from the same business only three weeks prior to this incident.

VicPD conducted a similar investigation in December of last year which lasted three days and saw 17 individuals arrested. In this investigation, over $5,000 in stolen goods were recovered.
