Another day, another lotto winner in Victoria!

While watching his children play hockey at a tournament in Nanaimo, Michael Kriberg decided to check his ticket using the BCLC! Lotto App.

To his surprise, the results were more than he expected when he discovered that he won $1-million Maxmillions prize from the November 29th, 2022 Lotto Max draw.

With the big win, Kriberg says he can complete some goals of his own off the ice.

“I was at a hockey tournament in Nanaimo and I used the BCLC! Lotto App on my phone to validate my ticket,” recalled Kriberg.

“The first thing that crossed my mind was ‘holy smokes!’”

The Victoria resident was most excited to share the news with his wife, who was “excited and in disbelief.”

Apart from paying off his mortgage, Kriberg says he plans to travel and help his family.

When asked how it feels to win, “I’m excited and scared. This win will make things more comfortable,” said Kriberg.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Country Grocer in the  Royal Oak Shopping Centre.

In 2022, BC lottery players have redeemed more than $173-million from Lotto Max. Lotto Max is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30 p.m.

According to a BCLC, 100 million winning lotto tickets were sold throughout the province in 2022 which resulted in more than $802 million in prizes for lottery players.

On Vancouver Island alone, 17.6 million tickets were sold netting $110.8 million being won by islanders.
