Audi A7 impounded for a week after driver nabbed driving 185 km/hr in Comox

Comox Valley RCMP are reminding drivers to slow down after a trio of drivers were nabbed driving at an excessive amount of speed in January. 

On January 27th a vehicle was clocked travelling at 185 km/hr in a 90 km/hr zone.

A member of the Comox Valley RCMP traffic unit was on the Inland Island Highway at Cook Creek when he observed the vehicle.

The Audi A7 was impounded for seven days and the driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed.

On January 6th, a Comox Valley RCMP officer was on Ryan Road when he observed a vehicle travelling at 120 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone. 

The Toyota 4Runner was impounded for seven days and the driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed.

On January 31st, at approximately 2:30 p.m. an officer of the Comox Valley RCMP was on 29th Street in Courtenay when he observed a vehicle travelling 110 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone. 

Police said the road was wet and slushy with snow still falling. 

The officer initiated a traffic stop and after smelling an odour of liquor also initiated an impaired driving investigation. 

The driver of the vehicle refused to provide a breath sample at the scene and his black Jeep Wrangler was impounded for 30 days and driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days in addition to his violation ticket for excessive speed.
