

BC Ferries has cancelled two sailings between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen Friday afternoon due to adverse weather conditions, and warns more services may be suspended.
As of this publication, the Queen of New Westminster sailings that have been cancelled are the the 12 p.m. departing Tsawwassen and the 2 p.m. from Swartz Bay.
Additionally, the vessel may not sail from Tsawwassen at 4 p.m. or Swartz Bay at 6 p.m. either.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Greater Victoria Friday afternoon and into the evening.
“A frontal system crossing the south coast will bring strong southeast winds 60 km/h winds gusting to 90 km/h this afternoon followed by a burst of strong southwest winds 60 km/h gusting to 90 km/h this evening,” the weather alert warned.
BC Ferries is warning further sailings will likely be cancelled on the route, along with the other routes.
“We will continue to monitor the weather forecast and will provide further updates as soon as more information is available,” said BC Ferries.
“The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us. We apologize for any inconvenience as a result of these cancellations and potential cancellations.”
