Beloved Oak Bay Marina restaurant closes its doors after 30 years

A longstanding Oak Bay restaurant known as a staple in the community has announced it will close its doors for good on March 5th.

Staff shortages and inflation have forced the eatery to close.

The restaurant announced on Monday, “the Marina Restaurant has been a fixture in the community and in our hearts for over 30 years. Our community, current and past, have made this restaurant legendary, we have seen our staff and our guests grow up at the Marina Restaurant.”

“Unfortunately, just like many others we are not immune to the economic challenges arising from inflation, therefore we are not able to operate any longer.”

While the news is disheartening, the restaurant is going out on a positive note as they plan a farewell week slated for March 1st to 5th.

Marina’s departure now joins the growing list of Victoria restaurants that have recently announced their closures, including Lotus Pond, Agrius Restaurant and Old Vic Fish and Chips, which declared their departures in recent weeks.

“Watching your children eat their first sushi roll, celebrate milestones, and every occasion in between has been such a pleasure and we thank you for including us in your joyous memories,” said in a statement on the restaurant’s website.
