A 30 foot sailboat moored in Cadboro Bay near the Royal Victoria Yacht Club was destroyed Saturday morning after going up in flames.
Smoke from the fire was first seen at around 6:45 a.m. and fire crews were dispatched to the area about a half hour later.
Both Saanich and Oak Bay fire departments responded to the scene to find the vessel fully engulfed about 100 feet from the shore.
Due to the distance of the vessel, the Victoria Fire Department were called in as well as the Coast Guard.
The Victoria Fire Department launched their fire vessel, Protector, and were able to put the fire out while the Coast Guard ensured debris from the fire was contained and searched the area for possible victims.
