A Vancouver Island woman who purchased a Lotto 6/49 on a whim is a $1 million richer.
According to BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC), Gloria Krivicich of Port Alberni, won her prize from a Lotto 6/49 ticket she purchased in late September.
She had won the guaranteed prize of $1 million.
“My dream come true!” said Krivicich, describing the win as a shock.
Krivicich, an avid gardener and reader, has lived in BC for more than 50 years and is planning to use the winnings to visit family in Croatia.
“I pick my own numbers and the numbers are family members’ birthdays,” she said in a release through BCLC.
Krivicich purchased her winning ticket at the Smoke Stack on 3rd Avenue in Port Alberni.
“I [can’t] believe it happened to me, a very big surprise,” she said.
