UPDATE: A male suspect has been located and arrested. West Shore RCMP say they are now lifting the containment area. The investigation is ongoing.

A large manhunt is underway in Langford Saturday as police search for a suspect believed to be armed with a weapon.
The incident started shortly after 10:15 a.m. on February 25th in the 700 block of Walfred Road in Langford.
West Shore RCMP responded to a report of an assault at a residence.
The suspect managed to flee the area before police arrived, sparking a large scale search.
Police believe the suspect may be in possession of a firearm.
“You will see a heavy police presence in and around the forested area between Walfred Rd and Latoria Rd as Police have set up containment here,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar.

Emergency Police Response Team, which includes the Police Dog Service and Air support from RCMP Air 1, is currently working to locate the suspect.
Police ask that the public avoid the area as they search for the suspect.
