Another pedestrian has been struck by a vehicle in the Greater Victoria area.
The latest incident occurred just after 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 16th near the intersection of Quadra Street and McKenzie Avenue in Saanich.
In a email statement, Saanich Police told Victoria Buzz the pedestrian, who was not in a marked crosswalk, suffered serious and life threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
The pedestrian was being treated by paramedics upon police arrival. The driver of the vehicle involved remained on scene and was cooperative.
Due to the severity of injuries to the pedestrian, Saanich Police traffic analysts closed the area until 9:30 p.m. as they investigated the crash in the 4000-block of Quadra Street.
“While the investigation is still ongoing, police have determined that the pedestrian did not cross the road using the crosswalk when they were struck,” said Constable Markus Anastasiades.
Over the past month, there have been at least four pedestrian related crashes in the Greater Victoria area with the latest occurring on Blanshard Street near Mayfair Mall, when a person suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle.
No details were released on the victim’s identity.
