On Thursday, February 2nd, VicPD received a call that a robbery and assault took place in the 1600-block of Douglas Street near Centennial Square.

Police say the victim was walking home between midnight and 1 a.m. when he was approached by a group of men.

While speaking with them, someone hit him in the back of the head. He fell to the ground and the group continuously kicked him before taking his backpack, hat, scarf and cell phone.

Shortly after they left, police say an unknown teenage girl returned his phone to him. It is not known whether she has any connection with the men who beat and robbed the victim, according to VicPD.

The teenage girl is described as being 16 to 17-years-old with long brown hair and wearing dark clothing.

Police say investigators would also like to speak with anyone else who was in the area of the 1600-block of Douglas Street on February 2nd, between midnight and 1 a.m. who may have been a witness to this incident.
