Don’t put the warm clothes away just yet, Victoria.
With last night’s windstorm over, a new weather concern is on the horizon with snow in the forecast for Wednesday.
According to the latest Environment Canada weather update, the region could see between two to four centimetres of snowfall Wednesday, starting in the morning.
Snow is also possible for Thursday and the weekend.
Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing level with temperatures expected to drop to 0°C overnight Tuesday. Temperatures could drop as low as -5°C throughout the week.
The cold temperatures will trigger extreme weather protocols which will prompt additional shelter spaces.
Victoria opened an overnight warming centre last night due to the high winds. Power outages caused by downed trees and power lines climbed over 30,000 at one point, however, most of the outages were restored by Tuesday morning.
Due to high winds forecast for tonight, the City will open an overnight warming centre from Feb 20 at 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Feb 21 at St John the Divine Church, 1611 Quadra Street. #yyj #warmingcentre #yyjextremeweather pic.twitter.com/LOoWEWrh9t
