14 things to do in and around Victoria this weekend, March 3rd-4th

You made it to the first weekend of March, Victoria!

The days are getting brighter and the air is feeling fresher.

As we head closer and closer to spring the best way to wait out the last few weeks of winter what better way to pass the time than by enjoying an event in your area!

From wedding shows to Royals hockey games here are 14 events happening in and around Victoria this weekend:

Innamind Recordings 

Kursk, founder of Innamind Recordings finally makes his long awaited Victoria debut. After amazing performances at Shambhala Music Festival’s Grove stage and Init Again in 2022, Kursk is set to bring his signature sound in full force for this evening.

Innamind Recordings, established in 2011, has been a driving force in the dark, minimal dubstep genre, featuring releases from top names like Gantz, Epoch, Headland, Bengal Sound, Karma, Boofy, Eva808, and De-Tu.

Vancouver Giants vs Victoria Royals

The Victoria Royals biggest rivals, the Vancouver Giants, will be facing off for the last time in the regular season this Saturday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Puck drops at 6:05 p.m.

Victoria Women’s Expo

The Victoria Women’s Expo is a two-day consumer event that takes place on March 4th and March 5th at Pearkes Recreation Centre.

This year’s event include interactive photo booth, door prizes, seminars and the first 100 people through the doors will get a swag bag!

Victoria Fundraiser Purim Party

For those not familiar with Purim it’s basically Jewish Halloween and we’re planning a big party to have some fun and raise more money for our Syrian refugee sponsorship. Need we say more? Didn’t think so.

There will be a DJ, dancing, drinks, snacks, and prizes for the best costumes. Tickets will be limited so hold the dates, get a babysitter start working on your costumes and get a ticket before they sell out. Adults only (must be legal drinking age).

Theme = Superheros and Supervillains.

Hecklers: Live Stand-up Comedy

Featuring the best comics from Canada and Beyond. Comics as seen and heard on Just for Laughs, Comedy Central, HBO, CBC, The Comedy Network and more!

South Island Vinyl Record Show

A variety of vendors selling vinyl records, CDs, cassettes and other related items. Great for collectors and music lovers!

Saturday Evening Social w/ Jon Lee

Spring Breakers: Beach Party

Come out to the craziest party the Spring Breakers have thrown yet! Instead of having one DJ, they are bringing in FOUR.

You’ll get to dance to all your favourite top 40, hip hop, house, and throwback sounds brought to you by Jansom, Doza, Prezzy & Lex.

Featuring a ton of themed decorations and surprises for the event, including some major prizes provided by Jagermiester. Videographers, photographers, and your favourite interviewer, Griffin Buckley, on-site.

Modern Wedding Show

Victoria’s famed Modern Wedding Show returns this weekend, and you’re invited!

The premier wedding and event showcase on Vancouver Island, it all happens this Sunday, March 5th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the iconic Crystal Garden.

Prepare to be immersed in breathtaking visual displays from carefully selected vendors, and expect nothing less than chic, elegant, sophisticated inspiration at the 10th anniversary of this coveted event.

Raffi

Dancing in the Moonlight

After an amazing response to our first “Dancing in the Moonlight: SAUNA & SILENT DISCO on the beach, we are offering more throughout the Winter and Spring. Come shake it out, let loose, and soften into stillness, body, mind, and soul!

A beautiful way to get together with friends, take a date, celebrate a special day, or meet new people. And did you know that adding exercise to your sauna multiplies the benefits?

1st Assistant Camera Workshop

Join instructors 1st assistant camera person Michael Fisher (Prey, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City) and cinematographer Kelly Conlin (Blood Buddies, Canada’s A Drag) in this two session, hands-on workshop teaching the theory and practice behind being a 1st assistant camera person on a film set.

The workshop is held over 2 days: March 5 and March 12 and each class is 4 hours (12-4 p.m.).

Music at the Market

Welcome to Music at the Market! An open mic session with our Victoria community.

Weekly on Sundays from 2-5 pm come on down, sign up for a 15-minute slot (about three songs), and grab a coffee with your friends!

Spend the afternoon singing and snacking and listening to some awesome tunes.

Celebrating Elders in East Asian Art

This lecture explores ancestral portraits of family elders and statues of the old Confucius as the embodiment of educated wisdom at the heart of the government. Dr. Young also illustrates Daoism’s and Buddhism’s reverence for longevity and the elderly that is embodied in symbols of flora and fauna
