66-year-old Nanaimo man arrested after stabbing security guard in Ladysmith

A security guard stabbed in an altercation in Ladysmith on Wednesday is on the mend.

The incident began just before noon, March 15th, when the security guard went to check on an open fire on private forestry near Ladysmith.

Ladysmith RCMP responded to area of Cameron Road and Timberland Road after getting a report that a security guard was assaulted.

According to police, an altercation occurred between the suspect and the security guard, resulting in the security guard being assaulted and stabbed.

The victim was transported to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

RCMP identified the suspect as a 66-year-old man of Nanaimo and confirmed he was arrested the following day.

He was released on an undertaking and is set to appear in court in Duncan on May 16th.
