Police look to identify man who offered to buy toddler on Hillside Avenue

VicPD are seeking the public’s help in identifying an older man who allegedly tried to purchase a 3-year-old child earlier this month.

The incident occurred on March 1st just after 3 p.m. in the 1600-block of Hillside Avenue, near Hillside Shopping Centre.

The father told police he was entering a store with his 3-year-old daughter when they were approached by a man.

According to a VicPD media release, the man asked the father if he wanted to sell his child and offered to give him money.

The father told police he felt threatened and reported the incident to VicPD that evening.

The suspicious person is described as Caucasian man, in his 70s, standing about 6’2” tall with a heavy build. He was balding with short hair and possibly wearing glasses.
