Share

Comox Valley RCMP have released a photo of a suspect they say was involved in an assault at Mount Washington last week.

On Wednesday March 8th, at about 2 p.m., police say an individual who had been resting on the Jacks Run told officers that two men came down the hill, with one of them striking his skis.

One of the men became upset, telling the victim to move along and then allegedly punched him in the face several times, tackled him to the ground and head butted him.

The two men were last seen skiing down the hill.

The victim was wearing a video camera and managed to capture a photo of the suspect before the assault occurred.

The suspect has been described as being between the ages of 20 and 25-years-old, standing about 5’8″ tall, having light coloured skin, and shoulder length dirty blond hair.

The victim was taken to hospital and is recovering from his injuries.

Theft on the hills

In a separate incident, Comox Valley RCMP are seeking help from the public in identifying a suspect who stole a snowboard at Mt. Washington on February 9th.

Surveillance footage shows two suspects walking up to the board rack and taking two snowboards.

One of the suspects, in the blue jacket, dropped the board he was holding, but the other suspect dressed in black left with a snowboard that did not belong to him.

“If you know either of these men or the whereabouts of the stolen snowboard, please give us a call,” said Cst. Monika Terragni, Media Relations Officer, Comox Valley RCMP.
