Ford F-350 theft is on the rise, and a group on Vancouver Island was the latest responsible for the stolen vehicles.

On March 4th, Duncan RCMP responded to reports of suspicious activity in the 1700 block of Maple Bay Road.

Upon arrival, police located a group of people trespassing on private property in two Ford F-350 pickup trucks.

One of the F-350’s attempted to flee the scene, but officers were able to safely arrest the 24-year-old male driver and 32-year-old female passenger.

Both F-350’s were confirmed to be stolen from Nanaimo and the Crofton area.

24-year-old Brandon Gregoire of Nanaimo was charged with Possession of Property Over $5,000 dollars, and is currently remanded in custody pending his next appearance in court on March 22nd.

A 49-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were also arrested at the scene and released on Undertakings, scheduled for court on May 9th.

According to Corporal Trevor March of the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP., there has been a recent increase in thefts of earlier model Ford Super Duty trucks.

Police are recommending owners of these pickups make sure they lock their doors and install alarms as security measures to fend off thieves.
