A fire at a park near Hillside Shopping Centre in the early morning hours Saturday is being investigated as a arson.
At around 2 a.m. April 8th, three fire trucks were dispatched to Oswald Park, off of Cedar Hill Road near North Dairy Road.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a community garden shed engulfed in flames and worked quickly to douse the flames before spreading to nearby houses.
The shed and contents were completely destroyed, along with some nearby gardening equipment and fencing.
The garden area of the park remains behind police tape and VicPD officers have been patrolling the neighbourhood, as well as going door to door for video footage and tips.
In an email statement to Victoria Buzz, VicPD confirmed the structure fire, while early in the investigation, is being treated as an arson.
