High winds are impacting BC Ferries this Easter Sunday forcing two sailings to be cancelled.
The company announced the 12 p.m. sailing from Tsawwassen had been cancelled as well as the 2 p.m. departure from Swartz Bay.
“Our Customer Service Centre will contact customers with bookings on these cancelled sailings to let them know if we have space available to fit them on an alternate sailing later in the day, or if their booking must be cancelled,” said BC Ferries.

The Easter long weekend is the busiest weekend for BC Ferries. As in past year’s, the company added over 100 sailings to meet the demand.
Between Thursday, April 6th to Tuesday, April 11th, it is predicted that 400,000 passengers and 160,000 vehicles are expected to travel on BC Ferries.
To meet the high demand of traffic, BC Ferries added 180 extra sailings with an additional mitigation plan that includes standby rosters and overtime staff to avoid last-minute service interruptions.
As of this publication, no other sailings have been cancelled, however, it’s best to check their website before heading out.
Those who had reservations on cancelled sailings will be refunded.
