Canada Basketball and We The West have just announced it will host Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team in an exhibition game against Japan this summer.

On Friday, June 2nd, both teams will take the court at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Rim-to-Rim is a celebration of the Pacific Rim rivalry between Canada and Japan, and it will mark the Senior Women’s National Team’s first game in Victoria in over 20 years.

The match also kicks off the start to Team Canada’s run to the Paris Olympics in 2024. As it stands, Canada’s senior women’s team is ranked fifth in the FIBA world rankings.

Ahead of the game, Canada will host their first training camp in Edmonton, Alberta, home of the Senior Women’s National Team.

“We are excited to bring our Senior Women’s National Team to Victoria in June and host Japan, the defending silver medalists at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics,” said Denise Dignard, General Manager / Executive Vice-President, Women’s High Performance.

“Not only will this game give players and staff valuable international experience, but the unique opportunity to play on home soil in front of passionate Canadian fans, as well as family and friends,” said Dignard.

Tickets for the match against Japan in June will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 21st.
