Have your say: This survey wants your opinion on quality of life in Greater Victoria

Share

Are you looking to have your voice heard when it comes to issues related to quality of life in the capital region?

You’re in luck, because the Victoria Foundation’s 18th annual Vital Signs Survey is open now, and they’re looking for your opinion.

The Vital Signs citizen survey asks Greater Victorians to weigh in on 12 Vital Signs issues related to quality of life.

These issue areas include housing, safety, health & wellness, belonging and engagement,
just to name a few.

This year, residents can fill out a short or long version of the survey, which can be found online—survey responses are used to produce the comprehensive Victoria’s Vital Signs report, which combines public opinion and statistics to provide a snapshot of livability and well-being in Greater Victoria.

The 2023 Vital Signs report will be released in the fall.

The survey just opened today, and will remain open until and runs until Friday, June 2nd—don’t miss the chance to have your say while you still can.

Also, by filling out the survey before June 2nd, you could win one of three $100 gift cards to Country Grocer!

“Every voice counts in a community and we value every response,” says Sandra Richardson, Victoria Foundation CEO.

“The responses from this survey will go a long way to help produce a true snapshot of
the capital region in 2023, painting a picture of how we’re doing, and what we need to work on together as a community.”

The 2022 Vital Signs report identified housing, cost of living, and healthcare as the most pressing issues faced by respondents—housing received a failing grade of F, the first time an issue area has received a failing grade.

Additionally, the majority of respondents also said there is not enough affordable home ownership options or affordable rental accommodations in the Greater Victoria area.

Overall quality of life in Greater Victoria scored a B+ grade, which is an improvement over the 2020 and 2021 grade of B.

Vital Signs is a community check-up conducted by community foundations across Canada that measures the vitality of our communities and identifies significant trends in a range of areas critical to quality of life, and Victoria’s Vital Signs was launched in 2006.
