A 59-year-old man has died in hospital after he was fatally stabbed earlier this week.
The tragic incident unfolded in Port Alberni on April 25th in the 3900 block of Roger Street.
The victim was found with life-threatening injuries, and despite the efforts of emergency medical staff, he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at hospital.
The suspect, a man in his 60s, was located by RCMP officers and arrested. This isolated incident has no threat to the general public, according to authorities.
“Despite the efforts of emergency medical staff, the victim was pronounced deceased at a local hospital a short time later,” stated Constable Richard Johns.
“These events are tragic for not only the family and friends of the victim, but the community as whole. Officers from our Indigenous police section have reached out to the community and are working with the family of the victim to ensure they have the supports they need at this time.”
Port Alberni’s Major Crime Unit is now taking over the investigation.
