The weekend has arrived and the sun is shining!

From a massive garage sale in Esquimalt to cheering on the thousands participating in this year’s TC10K, there’s surely an event for everyone and if not, just take the time to enjoy the much needed sunshine!

Without further ado, here are 13 things to do in and around Victoria this weekend, April 29th to 30th:

Amusement Fair at Mayfair

Get ready for a weekend of fun fair festivities, Victoria!

Mayfair Shopping Centre announced today that the West Coast Amusement fair will return this month to entertain young thrill seekers and families looking to enjoy classic carnival rides and tasty treats.

Gigantic Garage Sale

This event is hosted by Esquimalt Parks & Rec. Clean out your garage, get rid of your ‘stuff’ and make a few dollars. Household items, kids’ stuff, books, clothes and sporting equipment are only some examples of what you’ll see at our sale.

This event does not include wholesale or retail vendors, so it is a great opportunity to swap and shop with other community members. There is no charge for general admission.

Royal Bay Hacks

The Hack-a-thon is an exciting event that brings together secondary school students from various schools in the Greater Victoria area. The event focuses on promoting technical innovation and problem-solving by encouraging students to work on software, hardware, middleware, and other technical solutions to real-world problems that people face.

To cater to students of all skill levels, there are both beginner-friendly and competitive events available. Students who are new to coding can participate in events designed specifically for them, while more experienced coders can compete in challenging events that will push their skills to the limit.

The Peninsula Singers

The Peninsula Singers Spring 2023 show, ‘Singing through the Century’, takes you on a journey through 100 years of music history. You will hear popular pieces from the roaring twenties, songs and music from World War 11, Folk, Jazz, Country and Rock’n Roll from the 50’s,60’s and 70’s, popular music from the disco era through to today’s chart-topping hits

David Vest

David Vest is a six-time Maple Blues Award winner, a blues piano legend, and a songwriter whose tunes have been covered by artists ranging from Tammy Wynette to Downchild. He has performed onstage with Big Joe Turner and many other blues icons.

The Deadly Hiyas at Vinyl Envy

Times Colonist / TC10k

The TC10K returns this Sunday! Make sure to head down early and get your spot to cheer on the runners!

Khalsa Day Celebrations

Vancouver Island’s largest Vaisakhi celebration is taking place in Victoria this weekend and organizers are expecting to draw one of its biggest crowds yet.

Vaisakhi is a significant festival for the Sikh community, celebrated with great enthusiasm and zeal around the world.

Khalsa Day celebrations, organized by Gurdwara Singh Sabha, will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 30th, which includes a Nagar Kirtan, Sikh Procession.

There will be live music with the Bald Eagles, food, drink, and prizes. Wildflower walks throughout the afternoon, led by local expert botanists, will showcase the beauty of Uplands Park and highlight the importance of its threatened ecosystems and the rare species that inhabit them.
