In case you were wondering, two Vancouver Island cities were ranked as the most social media obsessed cities in Canada.
According to a recent study by casinobonusca.com, Victoria and Nanaimo were both ranked in the top five spots for being obsessed with social media, though the capital city claimed the top spot.
The report analyzed the number of monthly Google searches across Canada over the past year for social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram and more to see which cities had the highest amount of searches per 1,000 people.
With an average of 5,758 monthly searches per 1,000 individuals, Victoria has been crowned as Canada’s most social media-obsessed city.
The most popular social media platforms in Victoria, according to Google searches, are YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit. Numerous travel guides and vlogs promoting the city’s natural beauty and cultural attractions can be found on YouTube.
While Moncton and St John’s took second and third place, respectively—Nanaimo secured the fourth position with an average of 2,478 monthly searches per 1,000 individuals.
While other social media platforms are gaining traction, Facebook remains the most favored platform among Nanaimo residents. Thanks to its breathtaking coastline, forests, and parks, the city’s natural beauty serves as an ideal setting for social media enthusiasts to capture and share images on Instagram, Snapchat, and various other platforms.
According to the report, YouTube is the most popular social media platform across Canada.
“Social media has become a fundamental part of many people’s lives over the past decade, so it’s interesting that the older social media platforms such as Youtube and Facebook still remain supreme in popularity in Canadian cities, as opposed to newcomers such as TikTok,” said a spokesperson from CasinoBonusCA.com.
