It’s 2023, and travel plans that had been on hold during the pandemic have finally become a possibility.
As travelers around the world currently plan trips of a lifetime, Forbes magazine has rounded up its annual list of the best places to visit this year.
In honour of women’s history month, Forbes magazine asked leading female travel experts to share their experiences when it comes to the best international places to travel.
Among dozens of global destinations, notably mentioned, Victoria has made the list alongside Edmonton as the best destinations to travel to in Canada this year.
Chosen by Corinne Whiting, a Seattle-based travel and lifestyle writer, Whiting notes Victoria as “one of the unexpected joys of living in the Pacific Northwest,” because of its accessibility offering visitors the opportunity to discover new treasures in a compact, walkable city.

Noting Victoria’s efforts to acknowledge local First Nations culture and heritage, Whiting made notable mentions of visiting the Songhees Wellness Centre where people and traditions come to meet.
In addition to staying at a carbon neutral hotel like Inn at Laurel Point or Parkside Hotel, Whiting recommends dining at Big Wheel Burger (Canada’s first carbon-neutral fast-food restaurant) or taking a tour with an ocean-friendly and carbon neutral tour operator like Orca Spirit.
